My big project this summer is to build up on my listening comprehension and also to master the grammar from Spanish I and II.
I'll be using a variety of materials from the library:
Berlitz Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Spanish.
Pimsleur's Speak and Read Essential Spanish I, II, III, and IV
Ingle Sin Barrereos v1-12.*
To build my listening comprehension. I haven't been doing my daily Spanish readings in a couple of weeks. I'm going to get back to it today, when I finish this post. I also want to come up with 150 phrases in Spanish to use around the house.
I'm also going to be translating a childrens story from English to Spanish! I plan on starting May 1st and being done before classes start May 5. So, I'm giving myself about 4 days to do it.
At the end of the summer, I hope to translate a more complex story from Spanish, to English. But we'll see.
Right now I'm listening my way through Berlitz Spanish All-In-One, which is just two products in a package, with a couple CD's of Travel phrases thrown in also. I'm not learning much so far, but I'm pleased that I understand most of what I hear. Though, its kind of a weird product. The vocabulary from the 2nd CD has a lot to do with Alcohol,...its like they couldn't think of any other beverages that one might want to offer a friend. I dont need the words for Whisky, Sherri, Beer, and WINE all in one lesson, if that isn't the point. They threw in el agua at the end as if it were an after thought.
"Booze, whisky, sherri, and wine please...oh! and a small glass of water, too, I suppose!"
Also the vocab from unit 6 is kind of sporadic. Icecream, Stamps, magazine and cigarettes....
I'm going to download the transcripts because sometimes the voice is too quick and to rewind a CD can be a little cumbersome, especially since its like 18 lessons on one CD.
